Dr. Kelly Mrachek joined the Neuropathology division of Arkana Laboratories in 2019 after graduating from medical school at Creighton University School of Medicine, completing a combined anatomic and clinical pathology residency with Penrose-St. Francis Pathology Residency Program, and completing a neuropathology fellowship at the University of Virginia at Charlottesville. Dr. Mrachek is also a board-certified pediatric pathologist and completed a fellowship in pediatric pathology at the University of Colorado Children’s Hospital.
At Arkana, Dr. Mrachek is a hands-on type of pathologist and can often be found in the laboratories working on assay improvement or discussing cases with his neuropathology colleagues or his consulting neurologists. And, from time to time, he can even be found in the renal pathology daily conference where he brings interesting, teaching muscle and nerve cases where he shows examples of the beautiful tissue stains integral to neuropathology practice.
When not at the scope, Dr. Mrachek is an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting, fishing, and the natural, quiet beauty of the countryside. He also enjoys spending time with his wife and children and trips to the family farm in western North Dakota.
