Dr. Clanton joined Arkana Labs in March 2019 as a grant writer and scientist. Dr. Clanton has more than ten years of experience in developmental biology primarily studying the nervous system. He earned his Ph.D. in Biological Sciences from Vanderbilt University in 2013 while analyzing the role of growth factor signaling during brain development in zebrafish. During this time, he also worked to pioneer new ways to perform cell fate analysis in embryonic neurons. After receiving his doctorate, Dr. Clanton became a post-doctoral scholar at the University of California, Los Angeles in the Department of Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Biology. There he studied interactions between sensory neurons and the skin in embryonic development.
During his research career, Dr. Clanton has gained broad expertise in genetics and cell biology that he is using to acquire funding to expand product and service offerings at Arkana Labs.
