Career Opportunities

Mid-Career Transition

Ready for a challenge? Interested in being part of an exciting and evolving subspecialty in pathology that provides gratifying work and professional fulfillment? Would you enjoy being part of a thriving, growing, and fun medical practice that is patient-centered and future-focused? If so, Arkana Laboratories has streamlined a pathway for mid-career pathologists to transition into the field of renal pathology that might be for you.

Arkana is a private practice comprised of 16 board-certified renal pathologists and two neuropathologists and is supported by more than 90 technical and administrative staff. Each year, Arkana Laboratories accessions thousands of adult, pediatric, and transplant kidney biopsies from 42 states. You will find a highly supportive environment with challenging diagnostic material, an interesting daily case conference, journal club, and multiple teaching opportunities. All this adds up to the perfect place to train pathologists to transition into renal pathology experts.

We have been thoughtful to minimize the difficulty of a mid-career transition by offering a competitive compensation package during training that transitions into a full-time position at the completion of training. Our practice is located in a single site and does not have intraoperative consultations or onsite requirements during weeknight call for pathologists.

Located in the center of the state, Little Rock is Arkansas’s capital city. It offers a low cost of living with a plethora of cultural and outdoor activities, without many of the inconveniences of other major cities. The Arkansas River borders Little Rock and is where the foothills of the Ouachita Mountains begin to rise. Fittingly, the state’s diverse cultures converge in Little Rock, which is home to a thriving downtown entertainment district, a wide array of restaurants, trails, riverside parks, and golf courses, and the Clinton Presidential Library.

Applicants must hold an MD or DO degree and be certified by the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic Pathology. The ability to obtain a medical license in the state of Arkansas is also required. In addition, applicants must bring a strong work ethic and a good sense of humor. Compensation, benefits package, and vacation are highly competitive.
