Arkana Employee Spotlight: Christa
One of the voices you hear when you call our office belongs to Christa Heller. She joined Arkana in 2014 and has become an integral part of our client service efforts.
A core principle here at Arkana is that every call that comes in during business hours should be answered by an actual person. The job of answering the phones here is far from your typical receptionist position. These team members learn the ins and outs of every step required to turn slides into the report that gets delivered to each party involved in the patient’s case. They are air traffic control in our practice, and their main goal is to meet your needs and get you back to your day as quickly as possible.
Recently, one of our pathologists had a very difficult case. The clinical history referenced a previous biopsy on the patient; however, the report was not included in the accompanying paperwork. Christa, understanding the importance of this, searched our database to be sure the original biopsy wasn’t read here in our lab. Upon finding that it wasn’t, she took the initiative to contact the referring physician’s office and track down the original report through the reference lab that issued it. She didn’t put this problem back on the nephrologist’s office, nor did she wait to be asked to find it. She just did what needed to be done in order to best serve the patient. The original report proved to be extremely useful in making the diagnosis and our pathologist was able to fill in some gaps in the patient’s story.
