Clinical History:

The patient is a 37-year-old with multiple dural based masses.

What hematologic condition is rarely associated with this specific subtype of this tumor type?

A. Large B-Cell Lymphoma

B. Erdheim-Chester Disease

C. Castleman Disease

D. Red Cell Aplasia

Answer:

C. Castleman Disease

The histology demonstrates a tumor comprised of vacuolated epithelioid and spindled cells embedded in a mucin-rich matrix. SSTR2 is strongly positive and the patient has a history of multiple dural based lesions. The findings are consistent with a chordoid meningioma. Chordoid meningiomas often demonstrate 2p chromosomal deletions and are rarely associated with Castleman disease.
