IgA nephropathy is defined by IgA dominant or co-dominant deposits in glomeruli in the absence of systemic disease. Other diseases commonly described in association with this histopathology include Henoch Schönlein purpura, infection (particularly S. aureus), inflammatory bowel disease, and cirrhosis. It has also been reported as an incidental finding in autopsy studies.
